World’s first Cyber-shot camera phones - Sony Ericsson K790 K800
World’s first Cyber-shot camera phones
Well, Sony made it official with their release of the K790/K800. The K800 will be a dual-mode UMTS phone and the K790 will be a tri-band EDGE phone. The k790 is slated to be released here in the states.
The k790 includes a number of grounbreaking features. First of all, it is the first “Cyber-shot” camera as it bears the Cyber-Shot branding. This feature set includes ‘BestPic’:
When the BestPic option is selected, four pictures are captured before the camera button is pressed, one when the button is pressed and four afterwards. These nine pictures are captured during one second at the full 3.2 Megapixel resolution. The end-user is then presented with a “freeze mode” on the phone display with a row of thumbnail icons showing the nine pictures taken, allowing the end-user choose the best picture(s), save and/or send one or more of them.
Additionally, users will be able to go take pictures and then blog about them immediately. One of the options on the picture will be a “Blog this” option which will bring users directly to their Blogger account.
They don’t mention if this is compatible with other blogging services or if you can use this with your personal hosting. Further, they don’t mention any GeoTtagging, though hopefully that will be in the works.
All and all looks like a quality phone, and may finally break that phone/camera convergence barrier (for the US atleast). Phones will be shipping in Q2 of 2006. Keep on the lookout..
