In an effort to curb P2P usage, Japanese ISPs are taking steps to first warn P2P users of excessive usage, and then disconnected. I’m not 100% positive on how the business model works, but I’m wondering if these disconnected users would then be asked to find internet service elsewhere.

If it is in true that P2P users cost the ISP more money, then this step will make sense. The only issue I have is if users are cut off from their ISP and then have no place else to turn for …

So our Internet got cut off because someone was downloading HBO’s In Treatment off of our network, and seeing that we have an unsecured network, it could have really been anyone :)

And this brings up to interesting questions:
1. Is Cox monitoring all bit torrent transactions or just this show?
They told us they shut off the connection because we were downloading an HBO show, and this definitely isn’t the only HBO show that’s been downloaded on our network (The Wire, for one), so maybe they have a lookout for this new …

With Moneyshark rolling out, our labels are finally starting to get paid (remember “everbody gets paid?“). We’ve crafted up some slick packets that will be going out in the coming weeks, and we’ll be rolling out Moneyshark to labels as the product is tested and debugged.
2008 will be the year of Grooveshark.
