So what happened yesterday and is breaking news this morning? As a morning warrior, you have to be awake at dawn break busting your ass.

I was inspired to wake up at 5am after hearing Donald Trump mention it on the Howard Stern show, he gets up at 5am and so does Frank Lucas (American Gangster), so it’s safe to say I’m in successful company.

There was a big fuss about the Republicans using Heart’s Barracuda whenever Sarah Palin on stage, to play up the whole ‘pitbull with lipstick’ thing and then Heart came out and demanded the RNC stop using the song, because–well, they weren’t paying for it and Heart supports Obama.

Now that got me thinking about all of the campaign songs over the past 20 years and how they could have been a lot better. Typically these songs were picked while the candidate was campaign or played during inaguration, well before we knew how well these Presidents would perform.

What the Campaign Songs Should Have Been

John McCain is one of the most <s>charismatic</s> boring orators of our time. He is, in fact, 72 years old. Alan Greenspan is even older, at 82 years old, but for some reason I trust him more with the economy than John McCain.

After John McCain ‘suspended‘ his campaign to rush to Washington to get in the way of the $700 bailout bill preparation, he is now blaming Obama for interjecting politics into the discussion and it is now Obama’s fault for the fallout yesterday where the bill did not pass.

Below is where McCain blames Obama, and for some reason made me think of the lovable turtles from the Comcast commercials, the Slowskys?

Anyone else see the resemblance?

For all of you out there that are overwhelmed by Governor Palin’s tremendous speaking abilities, you should probably look at how well she knows the issues.

Governor Palin has been notorious for her claims of being, “just a hockey mom,” but frankly, do we really want billy’s mom to be a jelly donut away from the most important job in the world?

Fannie and Freddie are Government Entities? Yes or No?

With the bailout from Fannie and Freddie recently, we have the eloquent Governor Palin speaking to the issue at a recent rally in Colorado:

[Sarah Palin told Colorado voters]… that Fannie Mae (NYSE: FNM) and Freddie Mac (NYSE: FRE) have “gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers.”

Yay, oil! Drill more! ..were the expected responses from everyone in the crowd as well as McCain.

Unfortunately, this statement is just plain wrong and reflects this hockey mom’s naivety when it comes to our financial system. Fannie and Freddie are in fact NOT government entities, but are in fact private companies. (Do you hear Palin saying Exxon/Mobil is too expensive to taxpayers? She should) Here is Wikipedia’s definition for FNM and FRE:

Fannie Mae was founded as a government agency in 1938 as part of Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal to provide liquidity to the mortgage market. For the next 30 years, Fannie Mae held a virtual monopoly on the secondary mortgage market in the United States.

In 1968, to remove the activity of Fannie Mae from the annual balance sheet of the federal budget, it was converted into a private corporation.[5] Fannie Mae ceased to be the guarantor of government-issued mortgages, and that responsibility was transferred to the new Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae).

It’s Okay, John McCain is Smart…

So John McCain, the presidential candidate definitely knows how all this fuzzy math stuff works, right? He’s already admitted he doesn’t know how to use a computer, so Wikipedia can’t help.

Last year, McCain told The Boston Globe last year that “The issue of economics is not something I’ve understood as well as I should,” and, here’s the real kicker, said that he would look for someone who was a true economics expert in his VP pick.

So what do we have here? A bunch of dimwits trying to run the country… At least with Cheney, nobody thought he wasn’t highly intelligent, just a bit evil. I think it’s a mixed bag here, do we take evil genius or old and slow or pretty and dumb?

Thanks BloggingStocks for highlighting this issue

To promote the nomination of Sarah Palin as VP, and her lovely nickname of ‘Barracuda’ the McCain campaign played Heart’s song, Barracuda. Immediately after seeing (and hearing) their song being used at the RNC, cease and desist letters were sent out to the campaign:

“The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission,” the members of Heart said in a statement. “We have asked the Republican campaign publicly not to use our music. We hope our wishes are honored.”

Palin actually earned the name of ‘Barracuda’ for her play on the high school basketball team and her win in the 2nd largest town in Alaska, Wasilla. For those of you not familiar, Palin brought partisan politics to the small town, and is known to be one of the most divisive figures in Alaskan politics in recent years.

From the words of Heart on what the song represents:

“Sarah Palin’s views and values in no way represent us as American women. The song ‘Barracuda’ was written in the late ’70s as a scathing rant against the soulless, corporate nature of the music business, particularly for women. While Heart did not and would not authorize the use of their song at the RNC, there’s irony in Republican strategists’ choice to make use of it there.”

Perhaps this would have been a better song choice for the RNC announcement.

Like McCain, this man probably doesn’t even know how to use a computer, so no need to disparage him.

Let’s just hope Sarah Palin doesn’t try to ban any more books or at least get the spelling changed. What do you think? Is McCain even a maverick anymore?

The people LOVE W because they feel like he is, “one of us,” despite being a rich-kid whose Daddy was President, and gave him everything he’s ever had in his life.

Obama is the real deal, coming from a divorced family, putting himself through college, fighting uphill being a minority, and I’m glad he’s the candidate for president on the Democratic side. Here is the Obama video, and also one of McCain’s great masterpieces below.

Who would you rather vote for?
