Yanko Design has brought us yet another amazing concept-deisign that highlights what the world would be like if designers ruled the world, and I wish they did.

The iPhone has some of the best accessories on the market. People blog about the latest and greatest, unlike the Microsoft Zune. The Zune has no such market, and that’s really what makes the Apple products so great and why the iPhone is such a huge success, especially in the aftermarket accessories world.

So am I so lucky as to be able to drive a Apple Cinema Display 30″ with a Macbook Air? Yes.

You will be able to support the full 2560×1600 resolution, however, you will need to buy an accessory, the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter for $99.

Small price if you ask me, and you’re spending close to $1700 for a monitor, $99 isn’t that much more to ask.

It’s made to be watched using your TV, using just the Apple remote. You can listen to music from Last.fm (no Grooveshark support??), view lyrics, and check out photos from Flickr.

The installation is also quite simple. You load up the contents of the operating system onto a USB drive, plug it into the box of an Apple TV, and it will load all on its own.

I don’t actually have the software in hand, currently they’re in private Alpha, but I’ve sent an email to their co-founder Avner, and hopefully will hear back soon.

I currently own a Tivo Series3 HD, but lately I’ve been having trouble finding good TV to watch, so this would be my perfect solution, and without the monthly fee of a Roku box, Apple TV+Hulu is ideal.

What’s your favorite nostalgic Apple device? I personally always wanted to own a Newton. I’ve had a number of Palm pilots and really enjoyed the stylus.

You can’t replace the stylus with your finger, so I’m still hoping Apple releases some sort of Newton-like device again.

When is the actual netbook going to be released? There aren’t many details. Is there an elaborate hoax? Perhaps, but the mere premise sounds like a good one.

The iPhone has a 624mhz processor, fast enough to run a limited-base machine, and given that the iPhone can only run one app at a time, there shouldn’t be much of an issue with lag or performance detractors.

Would You Buy an iPhone Netbook?

I think I would definitely try out the Olo-Computer laptop/netbook. Finding a name for this device, however, is another issue.

The device would have to be sold for around $200 for me to want to make the purchase, given that the iPhone is now positioned at $199. Having the netbook would allow me to ditch my laptop, and bring only my iPhone. I currently use my iPhone for data, email, twitter, etc. so not having access to the phone while talking wouldn’t be that big of an issue for me.

What Features Should the Olo-Computer Have?

So obviously it has a smaller form-factor, 9″ screen (or so), full-keyboard. Noticeably, no trackpad, however.

I think it would also have a battery that doubles to power the unit and charge the iPhone at the same time. Would it have some sort of storage? Perhaps an SD slot, but nothing more is really necessary.

What else should it have? Aside from the battery, that’s really my biggest gripe about the iPhone. I guess it should have a headphone port, mic, usb charging slot or perhaps a spot to plugin your iPhone charger.

Olo-Computer A Win?

Will this device be a success? Possibly. For manufacturers trying to play in the Apple space, there are very strict design and ease of use rules that need to be adhered to to satisfy Apple users.

If the look and feel isn’t there, it won’t cut it. If Apple doesn’t buy in, they’ll find some way to disable it. Ideally Apple will look at this device moreso as a speaker set for their iMacs than a true competitor to their Mac line.

The Macbook Pro is definitely a well designed machine, but it’s time for a refresh. The model was originally released in 2003 with the Powerbook 15″.

6 Reasons, Macbook Pro Mockups are Fake

So what about these new mockups? Sure they have the new black bezel that adorns the iMac, but what about the rest? A Macbook Air keyboard? …I’ve detailed 6 reasons these are fakes, let me know what you think.

1. Macbook Air Keyboard Spacing

This keyboard is definitely ripped off from an Air. On the Air, you can see there is a ridge in between the keyboard and the sides of the machine. On the Macbook Pro, there is an even greater ridge, creating unused space and a design blah, that is so NOT Apple.

Just look at the current Macbook Pro keyboard, look how flush and beautifully everything lines up.

2. The Black Case?

Okay, so the black bezel makes sense, but the black case, as well? This case looks very similar to the design looks of the Colorware custom painted PCs and the Incase black hardshell.

3. The Trackpad is Ummm??

Okay, so I don’t even want to give an example why this is ridiculous. What is going on here? Is that supposed to be black glass? It looks like one of those black cloths you use to clean the screen, come on…

4. Two 2 Macbook Pros Mockups?

So you have 2 new Macbook Pros, what would you do with them? I know, let’s take blurry cameraphone pics and position the two Macbooks back to back?

That’s exactly what I would do, if I wanted to prove that these are indeed real prints.

5. There is No Power Button

I don’t know about you, but typically a machine needs a power button to turn on. The power button is on the same location on the Macbook and Macbook Pro and Macbook Air. If there is no power button on the front of the unit, then it would have to be on the side of the unit, meaning it could easily get bumped, which is another Apple no-no.

6. Mockups On the Screen

So if we’re trying to pull off a Photoshop hoax, might as well display our images on our computer. Not to mention the ‘Macbook Pro Plus’ icon on the desktop, where there should be a harddrive icon.

Just displaying this image is ridiculous. First you have to have the 2 Macbook Pro “Plus” then you have their stock images as well, WTF?!

Why Waste Our Time?

Why spend a post on these stupid mockups? Sure it’s fun, but at least take the time to debunk them, this is clearly a fake and anyone can spot it.

Any other points you guys want to highlight? It reminds me of that game from the magazine you would read at the Doctor’s office, what was it called again?

Prior to learning this tip, whenever I wanted to do any calculations on my Mac, I had to pull up my dashboard, and constantly switch back to my desktop.

I would look up the numbers, switch to dashboard, switch back, etc. etc. Now, thanks to the Finder, I cut out the loading time on the dashboard completely.

Use The Finder As a Calculator

How do you do it? Simply type in the calculations, and be sure not to use the = sign.

2+2 … = 4. It’s a smart calculation, so it looks at the old PEMDAS, so 2 + 2 * 5 = 12.

Try it for yourself, just type Command (apple)+Space bar, to bring up the finder menu.
