Well finally Microsoft has got on the open standards bandwagon, what with Firefox increasing its market share daily, we see Office now accepting ODF (open office docs).
I don’t know about you, but the only people who are using Open Office are those startups that have been forced to go legit, and instead of shelling out $20k for licenses, opt to use the open-standard that causes probably the same amount of loss in productivity as the licenses for the Microsoft software would run them.
Now that they’re on this opening-up binge, why don’t they go ahead and take the steps to buy their stake in more computers by purchasing Firefox, an open-standard which should help them elevate their search traffic, but at a much steeper price tag.
Why buy Yahoo! when you can become them?
And while we’re on that notion, why is Microsoft trying to spend so much money on Yahoo! ? Is it because they want to buy up Yahoo’s properties? Couldn’t Microsoft just as easily scoop up Flickr, Delicious, etc. and start making headway into more productive, interesting properties?
Right now, Microsoft could purchase a couple of other high-growth, promising startups: Twitter, WordPress, Digg, Facebook and instantly gain street cred and newer revenue opportunities instead of the tire old Yahoo portal?
