5 Reasons the Pleo will be 2007’s Christmas Gadget Gift/Toy

Well, it appears that the Pleos are starting to hatch, and I for one are definitely excited about this thing.

Here are 5 reasons this will be the biggest Christmas gift of the season:

1. Pleo is created by Caleb Chung who created the Furby

Like the Elmos, the Tamagachis, Cabbage Patch Kids, and all of the ilk before them, the Furby was a classic Christmas hit. The Pleo is a top Christmas gift due to its evolving nature; Ugobe’s LifeOS allows it to learn, and evolve as you play with it more and it becomes used to you. This makes this gift last throughout Christmas, and probably till about Easter, when it will inevitably be placed on eBay and given a new home :)

2. Pleo is lovable, adorable, and huggable

Although there is a list of what not to do with your Pleo, Pleo is a toy your children and big kids can interact with and come away feeling satisfied. The Pleo reacts instantly to your touching, petting, and “feeding” giving you that “pet without all the messy litter boxes and pooper scoopers”.

3. Pleo is apartment and condo safe

For those of us living in apartments and condos that do not allow pets, Pleo is a welcome addition to our lives. Nothing beats coming home from work to find a Pleo at home waiting for us. And through the magic of IP cameras, we can watch the Pleo interact with our Roomba all night long.

4. Pleo is a justifiable “gadget” purchase as well as kids toy

For all of those web 2.0 Daddies out there, Pleo is suitable for children 8 years and older, so you can easily justify it to the wife that Pleo is a much-needed addition to the family. Plus, you can even tell her you’ll check on the Pleo in the middle of the night and take care of any diaper duty (or battery acid leakage you may encounter). And with an SD card and USB-interface, this guy is gadget-ready to be programmed for all of your evil deeds.

5. Pleo is being sold through niche online retailers and boutiques

Nothing says “THE GIFT” for Christmas like “I can’t find it anywhere,” and due to Pleo’s decision (consciously or not) to release these things so late to the press, it definitely makes sense to see some Furby-esque hysteria surrounding these bad boys. So if you’re not ready to jump in on this round of Pleos, be sure to stock up and get your eBay Feedback strong to bank in on Christmas 2007′s hottest gift.
