Grooveshark: Monetizing P2P Networks One Britney Spears Porn Song At a Time

The Grooveshark team, and when I say team, I mean development team, spent the past 48 hours laboring to put the finishing touches on File/Song.

File/Song is one of the serious pillars of the Grooveshark network. We took all of the trillions of different files that exist for a single song, and grouped them into an easy to use, navigable UI.

For example, if you’re searching for a Britney Spears song, you will be presented with a selection of separate Britney Spears songs as opposed to 80 different copies of the same song.

From personal use, I have just kind of taken that for granted when searching on places like Limewire, and would end up downloading 5 different versions of the song hoping to find the 1 song that actually is playable and isn’t a virus, spam, porn, etc.

So now, what this allows Grooveshark to do is take in this content that was formerly mis-identified and mis-labeled and present it in a usable form for the user. And once in the Grooveshark system, users can listen to the song, download, and share with their friends. And thanks to our Moneyshark system, the content owners can track all of this through our analytics dashboard.
