After reading a story in the New Yorker a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been obsessed with the story of Alex, the parrot. He’s a remarkable bird that’s capable of emotive thought. He can tell you when he’s bored, thirsty, and can count and identify different colors and shapes, and all of this is expressed when he’s not around his handlers.
