How to Select Google Local SEO Categories

How do you determine the best category for a Google Places listing? If you select the wrong category, you can get your business #1 listing, but if the keyword has no traffic it’s worthless. So how can you determine what are the best categories to go after? Here’s a tool I just found.

Google Places Category Suggestion Tool

This tool doesn’t give you keyword rankings, but it does show you the hierarchy for categories and shows you all of the available categories. For a particular client, we are working on Insurance, and thanks to this tool it showed the “renter’s insurance agency” which is one of the client’s top keywords.
