Chat With Visitors On Your Blog With Hab.la

Maintaing a relationship with readers on your blog is the key to building a high traffic blog, and with this newest open-source chat client, installing a chat module to your site takes less than 60 seconds.

I’ve used a couple other live chat services, and all of those come with a cost, so it’s good to see this Hab.la client released, which would make a good replacement for those of you on the lowest level LivePerson chat plan.

Chat On Any Client

Hab.la, which you can see in the lower right hand corner of your screen is connected up to my AIM account, but Hab.la supports Meebo, iChat, Jabber, Adium, Google Chat, and many more.

The installation is simple, you simply drop in a javascript file into your footer, configure your Hab.la account, and you’re chatting in seconds.

You Never Say Hab.la Anymore

Live chat is a big business, but it’s become more of a mature product, so it’ll be interesting to see what the plans for monetization with the Hab.la service are or if it’s simply a fun little project.

So far, however, I’ve been impressed with the ease of use with this app, and look forward to future developments from their team.
