The last time I used an Android device was the G1, and that left me severly underwhelmed. Now, I have had my iPhone 3GS for 6 months, and the previous iPhones before those, so I’m well equipped to do an iPhone versus Nexus One Comparison, and after using the Nexus One, I like it better than the iPhone, here’s why…

iPhone Nexus One Comparison
- The Nexus One has a much better screen, in fact, I hate having to use my tiny iPhone screen now. The Nexus One screen is brighter, wider, higher resolution, there’s just no comparing them.
- The Nexus One has more sex appeal. My girlfriend, who normally hates any phone, and picks phones based on their case color, was blown away by the Nexus One. And for a gunmetal phone that’s meant for Geeks, that’s good news for Google/HTC
- The Android app store is not as bad as I originally thought. I found my favorite music app, Grooveshark, which is barred from the iPhone app store. and a Google Reader app, which is my staple on the iPhone.
- No multitouch, no big deal. I was able to browse the web double-tap and read everything just as well as I could on the iPhone, and often better because of the higher resolution screen.
- Gmail push is really amazing, and the notification bar at the top of the screen kept all my emails, sms, calendar entries in easily accsesible fashion. Unfortunately, as was the case with some of my apps, they were crashing, and those were notifications I had in my taskbar as well. Stability is an issue with Android
Overall, however, the main reason I don’t have a Nexus One right now is no support for AT&T’s 3G network. I can’t justify canceling my AT&T contract to jump on T-Mobile, especially with a new iPhone coming out in June which I’m sure will beat this Nexus One.
What were your thoughts on the Nexus One? Are you going to make the switch?
