For those of you who have had a site crash to only hear about it from angry customers or perhaps clients, then you are well aware of the value provided by Pingdom. They are a site monitoring service that alerts you whenever there is a downtime in your site, and they’re offering an absolute free version for a single site, but I bet it will not last long.

To get your free account, all you have to do is sign up, follow the instructions in your email, and you’re done.

I’m using it to monitor the status of my server that runs this blog, and since I only have 1 server, this is great for me and it’s going to probably save me $120 in account charges in addition to saving me any additional expense coming from the loss of site uptime.
