What’s the difference between an affiliate and a Super Affiliate? Well, a super affiliate can make a hell of a lot more money than a regular affiliate, so how do you become a super affiliate?

Super Affiliates

A regular affiliate is someone who promotes a single product, and gets paid everytime someone buys that product.

So if you are promoting a product for $100, and earning $50 commission, and end up selling 1 product per day, you’re making $1500 per month. Pretty nice!

Now if you’re a Super Affiliate, what you are doing is recruiting other affiliates to sell products for you. As a Super Affiliate, you typically get paid a commission based on a lifetime of sales. So if you are able to recruit 10 affiliates who are each selling 1 product per day, earning $1500 each, that’s $15,000 in gross your affiliates are earning.

And the way Super Affiliates work is they get paid 5-10% of the amount their affiliates generate, so you can be making $750 per month, without doing any work.

All you have to do is be a good talent scout. If you can find people who are talented individuals, and educate them about the affiliate marketing game, and you get them to sign up for a particular program, you can earn boatloads of cash for their lifetimes.

So think about what you can do to recruit affiliates, and become a Super Affiliate yourself.

So as an eCommerce store owner, I’m always looking for cheap, effective ways to promote my sites, and one of the best ways to do that is Google Product Search. Utilize All Attributes

Google products has a ton of attributes, and the more you use, the better. They have ISBS, SKU, UPC, so obviously their products cater to a wide variety of items, but once you’ve filled up all of the pre-defined categories, make sure to also add in “custom-attributes” whereby you map your attributes to the product search.

So in addition to stuffing your product feeds with a bunch of attributes, your ability to rank your store has to do with how well liked your store is, so you need reviews.

Hey guys, I’m starting a newsletter that’s going to be a direct feed of this blog. I’m going to share with you what I’ve been up to for the past 6 months. SEO is one of the best investments you can make into any eCommerce shop. Unlike PPC ads, when you start building backlinks, they are permanent, are free, and can continue to make you money forever. From my 3 eCommerce shops I started, I’ve been using these 10 places to build high quality backlinks.

SEO for eCommerce Stores

For my store My Salon Tools, this is the collection of sites I use to get my site ranking high, and indexed quickly when I’m looking to get new stores online. Let us know any recommendations you have to this list–

1. Kaboodle. It’s a social shopping site and you can add your entire inventory, giving you great backlinks.

2. StyleHive. Another good social shopping site, just like Kaboodle

3. Yahoo! Directory. Although this link costs you $299, it is one of the best links you can buy, and it increases your rankings in Yahoo just after you buy it.

4. Best of the Web. This is a great backlink that can be had for only $99, just like Yahoo this is one of the signs Google looks for in any legitimate store and helps you standout from your competition.

5. StyleFeeder. Another social shopping site, just like Kaboodle and Stylehive, get all of your SKUs in here ASAP.

6. BoxedUp. Another social shopping site, you get tons of free backlinks from this and the other social sites

Just noticed this feature in webmaster tools. Google shows you what “may be issues” with your site. It’s under the HTML suggestions and has only a couple of onsite factors, but this is definitely one of the best ways to test your onsite optimization.On my site, I had duplicate title tags out the wazoo. This is from one of my salon tools ecommerce websites, and the culprit was my search page. In my robots.txt I forgot to exclude search results, and as a result, the search page title would be “search results for hair straighteners,” which is fine, but if you hit page 2 of results, you have the same title page, so if you go back about 20 pages worth of that, you can see how I have 1,853 duplicate title tags.

So a quick switch on my robots.txt and now I’m good to go.

Any other good tips you’ve found in webmasters tools?

Whenever I feel like I’m not making enough progress with my company, I take a look at Flippa or browse around the web for really shitty sites that are absolutely KILLING it. Today I stumbled across http://www.codes4us.com/ a coupon site.

So their site is horrible, they have a nice collection of coupons and such, but it’s nothing you couldn’t pay a 15 year old girl to update and pay her $100 a month.

So how much money do you think they’re making? Well, they’re getting more than 173,000 uniques per month. On one of my coupon sites, I’m getting about 16,000 uniques and I’m monetizing these people really well, making $.18 per visitor.

So if you take those numbers, and cut them in half, assuming codes4us isn’t monetizing very well, they are making $15,570 per month.

Is that enough motivation to get off your ass and start taking names and making a ton of cash? Yeah, me too.

I was listening to a great podcast from David Hansson from 37 Signals who had some really amazing insights on how he built a $10+ million company with only 15 employees.

How Can You Out Teach?

So when his team was building Basecamp, a project management suite for small businesses, a lot of people in the press were saying to him, what makes your product so good?

Won’t Microsoft come in and build a better product? They have so many more resources, time, money, etc.

So for David, his team of 3 people working part-time had a ton of constraints on what they could do. They had jobs, limited experience, and little money, so they had to learn how to build a more lean product. They figured out ways to cut corners in the right places, and make the product as simple and efficient as possible.

And then when it comes to marketing the product, they would never be able to spend more money than Microsoft, so they decided to teach the community how they built it.

Their blog is notorious for having amazing tutorials, productivity tips, and a general open-door policy of sharing their secrets with the community. In doing so, they’re able to make their users passionate about their service because their users feel like it’s more than just a product that they’re selling, but it’s a service to their businesses and to the rest of the web community.

Can you think of a way you can out teach in your own business?

My favorite new site is TVGorge. They have almost every TV show available, all in full episode form, all for free. Some of the highlights I saw on their homepage was Dexter Season 2, Dexter Season 3, One Tree Hill Season 6 (not my personal favorite), Weeds Season 2, and my favorite, Damages Seasons 2 and 3.

Is this site legal? NO. But you’re not going to get in trouble for using it. TVGorge has a nice DMCA notice at the bottom of the site which means as soon as copyright holders issue a takedown, your favorite shows could be gone.

Robots.txt is still important, and still used today. For all of my eCommerce Magento stores, I am using some specific parameters in the robots.txt that ensure my javascript files are hidden, my SID parameters are hidden and I don’t have a bunch of duplicate content indexed in Google. This all helps with the SEO process and increasing your overall rankings.
