Buying Dropped Domains? Check for Fake PageRank

The best way to build any SEO business is to have a plethora of dropped domains. A dropped domain is a domain that been previously owned and managed but have not been renewed at GoDaddy, etc. This means you can buy high PageRank domains for cheap, but you could be getting ripped off!

Check for Fake PageRank

So how do we know if we’re getting ripped off? You can check for fake PageRank using a number of tools.

1) Visit this PageRank checker that runs 4-5 tests and tells you if it thinks the domain is fake: http://www.validpagerankchecker.com/cgi-bin/pr_checker.pl

2) Type your domain into Google like this:

info:domain.com

3) Type your domain into Google like this:

cache:domain.com

For the above 2 searches in Google, if the results are different than the domain you’re checking, it means the PageRank is fake.

What Happens with Fake PageRank Domains?

So what happens if you buy a fake PageRank domain? The next time Google runs a PageRank update (4 times a year), your domain will lose its PageRank because it was achieved by using a 302 redirect, which is now gone since you bought the domain.

So when looking to buy dropped domains, make sure you cover your ass.
